Hoje trago a Brigada do Mar!

Now one of the topics that I will introduce in this blog is really what is done well here in Portugal. If you have any suggestion of program, volunteering, company, etc., send to our email reutilizaramente@gmail.com!
Today I bring the Brigada do Mar! That's a great example of that. The Brigada do Mar is an environmental intervention project that operates in 3 areas, such as beach clean ups, environmental education and Eco Team buildings, and also works in development for cooperation.
This year, for the first time, I participated in the clean up action that is probably the greatest cleaning of the ocean coast, contemplating 45 km! This year was the 9th edition of this mission. This big cleaning takes place annually on Grândola coast, starting in Troia and goes to Melides, one of the most beautiful maritime coast areas of Portugal. However the Brigada do Mar also promotes other cleaning actions throughout the country, including islands.
From my experience, it was amazing to realize the amount of trash that is found on the beaches. However the veterans of these cleanings say that it took 3 days to clean an area we take to clean it one morning a few years ago. It remains to know if this reduction in waste comes from people's sensitization or it is thanks to annual cleaning.
In addition, to the amount of garbage is its quality ... You find a little bit of everything from fishing vessel material, the famous plastic bottles, yogurts, and all the disposable food. Even unthinkable things like baby seats, construction helmets, plastic chairs, toys, even hunting cartridges, among others.
This action counted with national and international volunteers! At the weekend I participated, there was a group of young people who came from Russia, Swiss participants and from England. But I know that during the other days of action there were more nationalities participating.
But what made this action a success was the willingness of the volunteers, the spirit of integration, mutual aid and not only. This set of positives aspects made the weekend that I spent too small, leaving always the desire that could continue! And yes for the next year I hope to be there again!
If you want to see how was this weekend, watch the video I posted recently!
